Greg was born and raised in Kokomo, graduated from Haworth High School, and attended IU Kokomo. Greg and I share a home in the silk stocking neighborhood, and our children (who are standing behind me) attend Kokomo-Center Township Schools. He enjoys spending time with our children and has coached various baseball and football teams for them. Greg is a caring and concerned husband and father.

Greg has worked for Haynes International here in Kokomo for nearly 18 years. In fact, Greg worked nearly 14 years in a row before he ever missed a single day of work. I think that tells you something about who Greg is.

One of the things of which Greg is most proud is being twice elected President of Steelworkers’ Local 2958 by his colleagues and friends. If the people who you work with every day, the people who see you on your good days and bad days, elect you to represent them in important matters involving wages, health insurance, and future employment conditions, that speaks volumes. It says a lot about Greg’s intelligence, leadership, integrity, and ability to solve problems. Greg represented nearly 1200 members, who obviously like, respect, and trust him. They re-elected him because he did an excellent job.

In a special election, Greg was elected to the Kokomo City Council and then re-elected in 2003. He has served six years, under two different mayors. Greg has worked well with all of his fellow council members, whether Republicans or Democrats. Anyone who has observed City Council meetings knows that Greg spends the time needed to prepare for every meeting, that he listens carefully to the information presented, and to our citizens. Greg is a positive leader who welcomes input from others and acts on good ideas. He is a problem-solver who seeks to reach a solution that is as fair to everyone concerned as is possible. Greg has also shown his respect for city employees and his knowledge and experience with labor and management issues while serving on the city council.

Greg's family has been in Kokomo for over 100 years, and he has a love for this community and its people. It amazes me how tirelessly he works in every aspect of his life. He truly has a servant’s heart. He wants to leave Kokomo better off for his own children and for yours. He hopes that his family and others will have the opportunity to remain in Kokomo for another 100 years and see future generations grow and prosper.

Greg has been saddened at times, as have many of you, to see the community that he loves falter in bringing and retaining jobs, He’s concerned for the future, but he has hope. He has a vision for what Kokomo “could be”. He has a plan to improve the economic vitality of Kokomo.

He knows that nothing that is worthwhile comes easily, but he believes that, with your help, we as a community can do better. Greg believes that we can return Kokomo to economic vitality, reverse the trends of job loss, and make the “City of Firsts” a city for the future. He is the youngest of the candidates for Mayor, but has the longest tenure as an elected office holder. He has the energy, the experience, the ability, and the drive to move Kokomo forward if given the opportunity to do so. Greg was the top vote-getter in the 2003 city elections. And I believe that you, those same voters, will elect him as Kokomo’s next Mayor. He is truly the best candidate for the job.

I wholeheartedly support him as he announces his candidacy for Mayor and I ask for your support in his fight for Kokomo’s future.
