The Goodnights' roots in Kokomo go back more than a hundred years. Born and raised here, Greg graduated from Haworth High School and later took courses at Indiana University Kokomo. As a worker at Haynes, Greg never missed a day of work for over a decade. As a union leader and advocate for his coworkers, Greg helped guide the company through its 2004 bankruptcy, keeping over 800 good-paying jobs in Kokomo.

Greg's wife Kelli grew up in Walton and graduated from Lewis Cass High School. In 1996 she graduated from Indiana University Law School and practiced with the UAW Legal Services for seven years. She's now at home raising her kids.

He and Kelli have four kids: Brody, 16, who is involved in the drama program at Kokomo High School; Devon, 14, who enjoys the Kokomo Children's Theatre; Alek, 11, who wrestles and plays UTC Little League baseball; and Ava, 4, who attends St. Joan of Arc Preschool. They live in the Old Silk Stocking neighborhood in downtown Kokomo and attend Grace United Methodist Church.
